The mission of Ashley Elementary Magnet School is to develop a global community that creates understanding and celebrates knowledge. The clean, safe, diverse, child-centered environment invites students to learn and motivates them to inquire and discover.
The faculty, staff and administration learned in February 2006 that the school had been officially authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program teaching philosophy focuses on the total growth of maturing and developing children.
The curriculum addresses students’ educational, social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs and integrates the educational research, practice, knowledge, and experience of international schools with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCS).
The result is relevant, engaging, accelerated, and creative educational program.
Specific questions, designed for exploration, inquiry, and study, guide Ashley’s teachers and students as they work in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program curriculum:
