Moore Elementary School Beliefs

Moore Elementary SchoolMoore Elementary School is based on Dr. Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences where students and teachers embrace education through the incorporation of our 8 Smarts into everyday learning.

Moore Elementary School believes that we all have strengths and learn in different ways. At Moore Elementary School they structure our curriculum around being Art Smart, Body Smart, Word Smart, Nature Smart, Logic Smart, Self Smart, People Smart, and Music Smart.

History of Moore Elementary School

Moore Elementary School was established in 1951. The school is located off Stratford Road near Thruway Shopping Center on Knollwood Street.

The school board designated Moore Elementary School as a countywide magnet school in 1971 and the school became known as Moore Alternative School.

As part the county’s limited school choice plan implemented in 1999, Moore Elementary School maintained its countywide magnet status while acquiring a residential component. Its name was changed to Moore Magnet Elementary School.

Moore Elementary School Awards

Moore Elementary School Received the “School of Distinction” award for the 2009/2010 School year! Moore Elementary School also made both AYP and ABC growth for the school year!

Moore Elementary School has received exemplary status for school years 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99, and 1999/2000 on the North Carolina End of Grade tests.

Moore Elementary School received a “School of Distinction” award for the 1997/98, 1998/99, 1999/2000 and 2000/01 school year.

Moore Elementary School received a “School of Excellence” award for the 2001-2002 2002-2003 and 2004-2004 school years. To receive the “School of Excellence” award a school must have a least 90 percent of their students at or above grade level and make expected or high growth on state tests.

“School of Excellence” is North Carolina’s top recognition for student performance in the ABCs of Public Education testing program.

    To whom this may concern: Me and my family is relocating from Houston,Texas to Winston Salem. I was browsing threw the different schools and your school i came across that interest me. I would like to continue the success in her the same as it was in Houston. I would like to know how can I get her enrolled for the 5th grade upcoming school year 2011-2012.
